Stanton picked up its first win of the season Thursday as the Mustangs hosted a home triangular against Madison and Clarkson-Leigh.
The Mustang varsity team opened with a 2-0 win over Madison, defeating the Dragons 25-9, 25-16. Sylvia Cunningham put down seven kills while Olivia Cunningham hammed another six kills. Bridgett Jensen put up eight set assists while Haylea Nelson added another seven set assists. Against Clarkson-Leigh, the Mustangs fell 25-15, 25-22. Sylvia Cunningham and Ellie Locke combined for 11 kills while Jensen and Nelson combined for 16 set assists. For more photos, click here. In JV action, the Mustangs picked up a pair of wins. Against Madison, Stanton won 25-10, 25 before downing Clarkson-Leigh 25-22, 24-26, 15-13. "I was so proud of them. It was a blast to watch!" JV coach Lorry Morfeld said.
