Private family services for Florence Carson age 91 of Pilger, NE will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Pilger, NE Interment will be in the Pilger Cemetery. Public visitation will be on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner is handling the arrangements. Florence passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020 at the Stanton Health Center. Florence Mae (Roenfeldt) Carson was born September 20, 1929 to William and Margaret (Splitgerber) Roenfeldt in Stanton, NE. On July 20, 1947, she was united in marriage to Keith R. Carson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norfolk, NE. The moved to California shortly thereafter and returned to Northeast Nebraska in 1949 moving to Pilger in the early 1950’s. Florence was active with St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Pilger for many years. When the church was remodeled, she did a lot of staining in the new woodwork. Keith and Florence were always helping out at the church. She was mostly busy being a housewife and trying to raise four boys. She worked at the Rohrs plant in Norfolk and then began working as a clerk in the Pilger Post Office. She retired froth the post office in 1992. Florence is survived by sons, Terry (Suzi) Carson of Gretna, NE, Gary (Pat) Carson of Pilger, NE, Leland (Laurie) Carson of Laurel, NE, and Tom (Wende) Carson of North Platte, NE, Grandchildren-Stephanie Carson, Aaron (Melanie) Carson, Kelli Carson (Mark), Scott (Hiliary) Carson, Jeremy (Carrie) Carson, Jill Carson (Jackson), Julie (Scott) Nielsen, Ben Carson, Jacque (Michael) Giese, Katie (Bryce) Andersen, Michelle Carson, and 21 Great Grandchildren. Also surviving her are her siblings; Sally Stuthman, Lavern Tillie Lehman, Walt (Janet) Roenfeldt, Lois (Keith) Jech, Lawrence (Caroline) Roenfeldt, Dorothy (Dallas) Anders, Clara (Dennis) Severa, and sister-in-law Rita Roenfeldt. She is also survived by a sister-in-law-Joan Carson, and brother-in-law Warren (Nancy) Carson. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband-Keith, brothers-Emil, Fritz, and Orville Roenfeldt, sisters-Marie (Wayne) Wendt, Mable (Alvin) Hartman, Hilda (Norman) Remm, Esther (Leonard) Sydow, and brothers-in-law-Henry Stuthman, Norman Lehman, and Ken Carson. Florence always wanted to make sure you had something to eat before you left her house and after moving to the Nursing Home in 2018, always felt bad she couldn’t offer you something to eat. She always walked you out of the house when you were leaving, even in cold weather, and did the same at the nursing home, always wondering where you parked. She will be greatly missed at all of the family gatherings, which were very important to her. Joseph Eugene Quinn, age 88 of Stanton, died Sunday December 6, 2020 at Stanton Health Center in Stanton. The memorial service will be at a later date under the direction of Shultz-Vogel-Johnson Mortuary in Stanton.
He was born September 30, 1932 at Valley, Nebraska the son of Martin and Grace (Rush) Quinn. He was a 1949 graduate of Albion High School. Joe drove truck for Laddie Houdek of Stanton and McMullin transfer of Leigh. Joe entered the United States Air Force on December 17, 1952 and was honorably discharged on October 12, 1953. On November 19, 1955 Joe married Betty Gaddie at the United Methodist Church in Logan, Iowa. The couple made their home south of Stanton and farmed until 1994 when the couple retired moving to Stanton. He was a member of New England Congregational United Church of Christ in Stanton and member of Stanton American Legion Post #88. Survivors include his of 65 years, Betty Quinn of Stanton; 5 Children Kim Quinn of Lincoln; Sandy and Rod Zoubek of Stanton; Scott Quinn of Stanton; Jodi and Jim Kahnk of Ankeny, IA; Dean and (Joe’s favorite daughter-in-law) Jeanne Quinn of Stanton; 10 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; 2 Brothers Wayne Quinn of Omaha; Phil and LouAnn Quinn of Lincoln. Preceding him in death are his parents, 1 Grandson Nathanial Zoubek; 1 Great Granddaughter Isabella Grace Quinn, 2 Brothers Delbert and Martin; 4 Sisters Dorothy, Vida, Margaret and Velda. She passed away Monday, October 26, 2020 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Theresa was born December 28, 1943 in Boise, Idaho. On April 19, 1981, she married Chester Ford in Idaho. Theresa was a homemaker and loved shopping. Theresa is survived by her husband, Chester Ford of Pierce, NE; children, Barbara (Alicia Cain) Ford of Jacksonville, FL, Floyd Ford of Coleridge, NE, and Rachel (Donald) Belmer of Norfolk, NE; and grandchildren Alex and Tony Ford, James and Jonathan Meilike, Justin Ladig, Markus Ladig, Leah Cain, and Taira Parish. He passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Premier Estates of Pierce. Chester was born in Milan, MO on June 26, 1931 to Duane and Lillie (McKay) Ford. On April 19, 1981, he married Theresa Moore in Idaho. The couple lived in Illinois while Chester worked at a mill in Iowa. The family then moved to Nebraska where he worked at the mill in Stanton. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He is survived by his children, Barbara (Alicia Cain) Ford of Jacksonville, FL, Floyd Ford of Coleridge, NE, and Rachel (Donald) Belmer of Norfolk, NE; and grandchildren Alex and Tony Ford, James and Jonathan Meilike, Justin Ladig, Markus Ladig, Leah Cain, and Taira Parish. Chester was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Theresa. JoAnn Marleen Cody, age 70 of Stanton, died Saturday October 31, 2020 at her home in Stanton. She was born July 29, 1950 at Stanton the daughter of Robert and Esther (Smith) Mussack. JoAnn was the youngest of 4 children. Her siblings included Judy, Bob and Bill. JoAnn grew up in Stanton until the family moved to California. JoAnn lived in California for most of her early adult life.
On December 10, 1977 JoAnn married Robert Gaily Cody in Reno, Nevada. The couple returned to Stanton to raise a family. They had one daughter Melissa Marie Halsey. Robert and JoAnn owned the Stanton Variety store until February 1, 1982 when they decided to move back to California to be closer to Robert’s family in Palmdale, California. Robert and JoAnn were divorced in June 1999 In 1990 JoAnn and her family moved back to Stanton and she was employed by the Stanton Health Center. Working first in the Dietary department, and then became Office Manager working until 2011 when she retired to assist with the care of her grandchildren. JoAnn will always be remembered for her outgoing “tell-it-like-it-is” personality. She was someone that was very talented with crafting and DIY projects. She enjoyed doing home improvement projects, quilting, sewing and gardening. Surviving JoAnn is her Daughter Melissa and Ryan Halsey of Norfolk; 4 Grandchildren; 1 Brother Bob Mussack of Erie, CO; 14 Nieces and Nephews, several cousins, many friends and acquaintances that will miss her very much. Sonja worked at Dale Electronics in Norfolk until the birth of her son Ray, III and later Kristie, she stayed as a housewife and homemaker in Stanton until the children graduated. She worked for B & G Maintenance in Norfolk and later for Walmart where she was employed for 20 years, when she retired. Sonja enjoyed raising orchids and was well known at Walmart as the “orchid lady.” She and Ray danced with the Stanton Twirlers Square Dance Club. She was a past member of Faith Lutheran Church in Stanton. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Ray Lehman, Jr. of Stanton; 2 children Ray Lehman III of Norfolk; Kristie Lehman of Omaha; 2 sisters Linda and Rich Kuehler of Yankton, SD; June and John Horst of Wisner; several nieces and nephews. John was born on February 27, 1939, in Osmond to John and Adeline (Schilling) Borgmann. He attended District 70 in Pierce County, St. Mary’s grade school in Osmond, and graduated from Osmond High School in 1956. John and Bette Callow were married at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Plainview on December 27, 1958. They were blessed with seven children. John was a specialized machinist and started his own business; John’s Automotive Machine. He later worked in the machine shops at O’Reilly Auto Parts in Sioux City and at NAPA Auto in Neligh. After Bette’s death in 2000, he married Marie Aase on July 7, 2007, in Norfolk. John was a kind, patient man…maybe he had to be with helping raise 7 kids. John loved hearing and sharing a good joke, especially those in the Reader’s Digest. His smile, laughter, and hugs will be truly missed. Through the years John enjoyed racing stock cars and attending stock car races. He loved reading western novels, especially those written by Louis L’Amour. John was also an accomplished singer and enjoyed Country Music, square dancing, playing the banjo and harmonica. John is survived by his wife, Marie and his children and their spouses: Jerry (Tammie) Borgmann of Stanton; Julie Baxter of Jacksonville, AL; Anita (Bob) Stange of Osmond; Jennie Tuatoo of Roseville, CA; Andrea Borgmann of Norfolk; Tim Borgmann of Tulsa, OK; step children: Todd Aase of Las Vegas, NV; Sandy (Paul) Duncan of Norfolk; and Dave Aase of Norfolk. Karen Rae (Filsinger) Hahlbeck was born on February 26, 1942 in Clearwater, Nebraska, to Raymond and Eunice (Meyer) Filsinger. She was baptized at Zion-Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clearwater and confirmed at Concordia Lutheran Church in Clearwater. After attending a country school, Karen graduated from Clearwater High School in 1959 as the class valedictorian. She married Jerry Hahlbeck on June 26, 1960, at Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk, Nebraska. The couple briefly lived in Nampa, Idaho, in the early part of their marriage, but they returned to Norfolk in 1962 and remained living there for many years. During her years in Norfolk, Karen worked at Jack’s Cafe, Allied Van Lines, and Hansen Insurance. She was very active in the P.T.A., even serving as president of the Lincoln Elementary School chapter. Her most important job, however, was raising her two sons, Troy and Gary. In 1984, Karen and Jerry moved to Ewing, Nebraska, where Jerry was from. There, Karen was a school bus driver, and she served as the town clerk for a while. She and Jerry also owned and operated the Ewing Auction House for several years. When she wasn’t working, Karen loved to knit, crochet, reupholster furniture, cook for the numerous hunters in her family, do crossword puzzles, read, and spend time with family. Unfortunately, she suffered a life-changing stroke in 2010 which left her disabled for many years, and she later moved to the Stanton nursing home in 2018. Survived by her husband, Jerry Hahlbeck of Stanton; her sons, Troy (Theresa) Hahlbeck of Stanton and Gary (Sherrie) Hahlbeck of Battle Creek; her sister, Lois (Ron) Marshall of Neligh; her in-law siblings, Pat Hahlbeck, Don (Diane) Hahlbeck, Kay Hahlbeck, Maurice (Kathy) Hahlbeck, Bertha Hahlbeck, and Cheri (Gary) Joslyn; her grandchildren, Ashley (Andrew) Elsberry, Adam (Kendra) Hahlbeck, Justice Hahlbeck, Scott Ransen, Kim (Brent) Batt, and Kerri (Mike) Weinrich; twelve great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Barbara passed away Monday, October 5, 2020 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Barbara was born on November 13, 1941 in Bloomfield, Nebraska to Dave and Nellie (Woods) Ober. On June 14, 1959, Barbara married LeRoy Daniel. The couple made their home in Stanton. Barbara was a cook for the Norfolk Regional Center and the Stanton Schools. Before retirement, she served as a bus driver for the Stanton Schools. Also, Barbara volunteered at Grace’s Closet. Barbara loved to spend time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s activities. Her family always appreciated her great cooking and baking. She was famous for her bread, sugar cookies and cinnamon rolls. She is survived by her children Tim Daniel of David City, Rick Daniel of Stanton, Kevin (Jacquee) Daniel of Norfolk, Davanna (Tony) Bernbeck of Stanton, Gene (Sarah) Daniel of Stanton, and Raeann (Shane) Patterson of Stanton, seventeen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, brother Jim (Juanita) Ober, and nieces and nephews.
