A 16-year-old from O'Neill was injured in a rollover accident in Stanton County on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Stanton County Sheriff's Office, just after 3 p.m. officers responded to and investigated a one-vehicle rollover about three miles wet of Pilger on Highway 275. The accident occurred when the lone male driver lost control of his westbound SUV as he slowed for stopped traffic on the highway.

According to law enforcement, t
he vehicle entered the north ditch and rolled landing back on its wheels.  The driver was not restrained and was transported to FRHS in Norfolk by ambulance.

Both Pilger and Wisner Fire and Rescue responded to the scene.

Sheriff Mike Unger said, "S
peed and inexperience are considered contributing factors, and the driver is very fortunate to have not been seriously injured.  The SUV is considered a total loss."
