It's not every day that a town is evacuated due to an approaching fire, but that's exactly what happened. It was our job to keep everyone informed, so they could know what was happening at a safe distance. We needed to report on the situation and stay out of the way, so we stayed in communication with both the sheriff's department and the fire chief. We were able to get behind the fire to see where it was going, as well as be at the pump site. Although dozens of communities were represented as mutual aid, we were the only media reporting on site. When the whistle blew in town, we were able to capture video of the ghost town.
