About the Knox County News
The Stanton Register is the official newspaper of Stanton County and was founded in 1879.
On May 7, 2020, Pitzer Digital LLC — owned by Carrie and Wade Pitzer — acquired the publication from Dani and Brian Hadcock. The newspaper was set to close May 6 due to an economic downturn during the novel COVID-19 era. Not wanting to see Stanton County lose its only newspaper, the Pitzers asked how they could help the community save its newspaper.
The Stanton Register is now distributed on Thursdays and features a more modern look both in print and online. The paper is still printed in black and white, but with advertising growth, the newspaper has a goal of being in color by the fall sports season. Again, that will depend on support from the area business community for both advertising and print products.
The new owners have one of the area's largest print shops and can supply the community with a variety of print products, including postcards, mailers, envelopes, brochures, business cards, banners, carbonless forms and much more. Even if businesses are unable to change advertising practices, shifting print business to the Stanton Register will also help save the local newspaper and help it grow to having color pages.
